Red Deluxe has developed a new smart-phone app that is at the center of a new teen hearing loss campaign. The effort, launched by the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, is working to stem the increasing problem of premature hearing loss in teens – damage that is irreversible once inflicted. As the centerpiece of the campaign, the app brings the issue to life for the target audience before the damage is done.
As ears age, they lose the ability to hear certain frequencies. The new “Play it Down” app lets users test how much they’ve already aged their ears and check the decibel level of their earbuds. And in what is turning out to be the most fun feature, users can play their music through an “Auto Old” filter that simulates further ear damage.
